Senior Track and Field Athletes
The Midwest Meet of Champions has been in existence since 1974 and pits the best senior track and field athletes from Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan against each other in the only scored, inter-state all-star meet of its kind in the United States. Final roster selections are made the Sunday and Monday immediately following the Outdoor State Championships. There is no cost to athletes who are selected. Travel costs, souvenir uniforms that the athletes keep, t-shirts, meals, and lodging are all underwritten by the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.
This year the meet will be held on June 12 in Fort Wayne, IN. Team Ohio will depart from the Jesse Owens Memorial in front of Ohio Stadium on Friday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m. Friday’s schedule consists of travel, practice, and a banquet with the teams from Indiana and Michigan. Saturday’s schedule consists of breakfast, team pictures, the Parade of Champions, and the meet itself.
Ohio's team coordinator is Claude Holland from Cleveland Heights. The boys team head coach is Jon Agriesti of Hilliard Bradley and the girls team head coach is Eileen Grosse of Wilmington High School. For more information about the meet go to the Midwest pages.
